PR: Innovation on a roll: The special primer ASO-Unigrund-PLUS from SCHOMBURG

Effective protection from Ettringite, paired with the highest level of safety, flexibility and efficiency when installing tiles and slabs on sensitive substrates. These advantages are given to tilers with the new special dispersion-based primer ASO-Unigrund-PLUS from SCHOMBURG. With the tile adhesive MONOFLEX-S2 it actually forms the only system solution that allows tiles to be installed onto uncured calcium sulfate-based substrates (with high residual moisture, maximum 1.2 CM%).
“In the future tilers will only need one primer, then our new ASO-Unigrund-PLUS is the universal solution for all eventualities. The professional tradesperson has an innovate role and can just get on with it”, says Ron Achteresch, Product Manager for the tiling business division at SCHOMBURG.

Safety in a system

With the new arrival, SCHOMBURG offers tilers a whole new safety system. Then thanks to the ingenious formula ASO-Unigrund-PLUS from SCHOMBURG effectively prevents the formation of Ettringite, which can always occur when calcium sulfate ions and aluminates come into contact via moisture from the substrate or from the tile adhesive. When Ettringite forms, the contact zone between a calcium sulfate screed and a cement-based tile adhesive increases around eight times. This can lead to delamination of the tile finish or smoothing compound. With the new system solution, SCHOMBURG has banished the risk and offers the tiling professional a whole new level of installation security.

Even for critical substrates

With critical substrates and above all with large and mega-format tiles, the tradesperson had to previously resort to reaction resins, which were laborious to use. With ASO-Unigrund-PLUS from SCHOMBURG, priming is simple and economical. The one component primer is uncomplicated to apply directly with a roller or dependent on application, it can be more productively diluted 1:3 with water. Dependent on the substrate, the special primer from SCHOMBURG dries within 20 minutes, so that the tradesperson can begin installing tiles especially soon. Furthermore the new primer ASO-Unigrund-PLUS from SCHOMBURG wins with very high wet stability and high tensile adhesion strength.

Very versatile

Therefore, the new special primer from SCHOMBURG can be universally used, on almost all screeds (CT, CA, CAF as well as AS), renders (cement, cement-lime), Gypsum plaster and lightweight plasters, screed replacement boards, hollow floors and timber floors. ASO-Unigrund-PLUS can also be applied on boarded substrates with plasterboard, Gypsum-based or cement-based fibreboards or all types of masonry work (Lime-sand blocks, aerated concrete, pumice stone, full brick). It serves as a primer for tile finishes, bonded waterproof membranes and levelling/smoothing compounds. The substrates can be heated or unheated – it doesn’t matter, whether internal or external or underwater.
The one component dispersion is free from PU and EP and does not contain fillers. It is available in either a 1 kg bottle or a 5 kg jerry can.
